2022-23 Parish Council Aims & Objectives
The Parish Council constantly works towards achieving the following Aims and Objectives
The over-riding principle for the Council and all its staff is to seek to show benefit to the community they serve in all they do.
Planning Committee
To improve the quality of responses to all planning applications within required timescales and consider the impact on the community with reference to Neighbourhood Plan
Transport
- To seek improvement of road and footpath surfaces and improvement in footpath width.
- To raise the profile for Marks Tey in relation to parking, the A12 and A120
- To identify, co-ordinate, and represent residents transport concerns to reduce the disruptive effect of the A120 and A12 construction plans
Staffing & Premises Committee
- To support and develop the staff team to work effectively by ensuring that all appraisals are undertaken to identify support and training needs, and policies and procedures monitored to ensure that they are current
- To ensure that the Committee structure is working effectively and sustainably to support the smooth running of the Parish Council
- To continue to increase the use of Parish premises and ensure demonstrable community benefit from the use
- To initiate a planned maintenance and investment programme for Parish premises
- To ensure Hall Hire works as an effective business against costs by reviewing and maximising existing Hall Hire income streams and proactively seeking new Hall Hires
- Up to date HSE review and risk assessments
Community Events Committee
To organise and deliver community events and develop a network of volunteers to act as street representatives and support community activity
Finance Committee
To oversee the financial activity of the Parish Council, to ensure that all financial practices are being followed correctly and to regular monitor the accounts, as follows:
- To consider all matters relating to the Council’s financial resources and make recommendations on strategy, policies and operational matters concerning finance
- To monitor all expenditure against Budgets
- To recommend future years budgets and the calculation of the Precept to the Council as part of the annual budget process
Communications
To improve communications with Marks Tey residents through:
o Regular communication with residents about Parish Council activity
o development of the use of interactive social media by the Parish Council
o up to date noticeboards
o contributions to Marks Tey Regional Life
o modern and operational website
Council Funding
To investigate all available grants and funding sources opportunities for current projects or pending projects which may be developed with funding availability
Council members
To take steps to ensure that all 11 Councillor positions are filled, maintained, and supported and any May election process properly undertaken
Local Council Awards
To maintain Foundation status and investigate opportunities for further improvements
